SOS #16 – Birds, Bugs & Beasts

Happy SOS Tuesday! I hope you look forward to Tuesday’s as much as I do & seeing what the new Shopping Our Stash challenge is.

Well, we have another fun one for you today: Birds, Bugs & Beasts! Here’s the deets for today’s challenge : For this challenge we want to see your birds, bugs or beasts (animals, critters, insects, creepy crawlies, fishes, monsters, etc).  Just no people!

I don’t have a whole heck of a lot in the birds and beasts department. I’m always honest with you guys…birds scare the crap out of me. I’m scared that one is going to swoop out of the sky and do something weird or freaky…or poop on me. Ew.  So scary. But bugs…I can squash or swat a bug! Oh yeah!! So I went with it and I used my Tim Holtz Papillon stamp with moths & butterflies on it.

There’s a few things going on with this card. Some things are relatively subtle. I stamped the image twice. Once on the natural cardstock and once on acetate. I colored the images in with distress inks mixed with water. The images stamped on the acetate were cut out and then placed over their corresponding stamped image and stapled to give it dimension. The wings look more wing-like. ;) I distressed the edges of the piece of natural cardstock and smudged walnut stain Distress Ink all over & on the edges. Added a die-cut border, ruffled some seam binding ribbon, and an adage ticket. Done!

Hope you like it and that you’ll play along. Just link up your card on the main SOS blog. Be sure to check out all the DT for inspiration. There’s some really beautiful and fun designs this week.
