April 3 Takes on a Trend

Hi friends! Thank you so much for joining me this month for how we take on a trend with Ellen Hutson in the CLASSroom. This month there are three of us. Therefore: THREE Takes on a Trend. Duh. :D

The Pantone Palette is called Drama Queen and it is GORGEOUS!! Have a look:

Isn’t that a beautiful color palette?!?

Since the store is now carrying the stunning Alexandra Renke products I knew, almost immediately, what I wanted to create along with the fabulous new Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamps, Be Strong & Designer Dies by Brandi Kincaid.

I hope you like my card.

Usually I LOVE going bolder with color. Trust me. But, I’m finding lately that going softer has just as much visual impact, just in a different way. I’m still learning as I go and finding that you don’t always HAVE to create one way. You can have a certain technique or style that you prefer, but still learn. Ever day is a new opportunity, right?

Anyway! I’m rambling. This stamp set from Ellen Hutson LLC is one of those I think is a necessity for every stamper/creative. If you’ve ever struggled or known someone who is? This stamp set is perfect to make a set of cards to remind them how important they are. How special, how brave, how strong they are. And how much you love them.  Or maybe make something for yourself. ♥

This is your reminder that wherever you are, that I love you and I’m rooting for you. Be strong.

Cat Lady

Hey everyone! I hope you’re all doing purrrfectly amazing this Tuesday.  I’m sure that if any of you are a big fan of the Ellen Hutson, LLC Leading Ladies designed by the fabulous Brandi Kincaid  😊 you are not surprised at the card I’m posting today.  It was out of stock furever…even for ME!! So no special treatment here folks. Lol!

I am a HUGE cat lover. I’ve had 4 cats. I still have 2 cats in California, but when I moved back to Nevada I made the best decision (and least traumatic) for them to leave them with my former boyfriend. They are being well loved and are in a happy place. My kitty here in Nevada, Millie,  🐱  is a frequent fixture on my Instagram. (@papergrace) And, if any of you know me personally, then you know she is quite the talker. She’s a funny one.

My card today is, of course, featuring the Essentials by Ellen, Leading Ladies, Cat Lady Clear Stamp & Designer Die set designed by Brandi Kincaid.

I just love her so much!!! 😍 And the patterned paper from Reverse Confetti brings a smile to face. ALL of my coloring is done with colored pencils. I’m absolutely NOT a pro with them, but I really enjoyed the process of learning to use them. They are so much harder than I thought they would be. But, it was really satisfying, too.  There was one kitty that I just totally screwed up. :(  Oh well. Mistakes happen!

Here is a little close-up for you:

I hope that with practice I’ll get much better.  Are any of you pencil colorers? I’d love to hear some of your tips!! Please leave them in the comments below.  As usual, I have my supplies listed below and linked to shop for your convenience.  Wishing you a PAW-some day! 🐾

Two Takes On A Trend March 2018

Hey everyone! Welcome to my Two Takes on a Trend post for Ellen Hutson in the CLASSroom. Myself and Michele Ferguson are using this palette to show our cards in TWO very different ways. (Be sure to check out the The CLASSroom for the post featuring the palette or her blog to see her beautiful card, too.)

Here is the Pantone Palette that we are using for our cards:

PREEEETTTTYYY!!!! 😍

So, hold on to your hats. I softened the colors instead of making them brighter. I KNOW!! Same colors, just softer.

I used Distress Inks on watercolor cardstock for my focal image. The image was inlaid (much like a puzzle) using more layers of cardstock and adhesive.  I also stamped a few images off to the side in Versarmark which were heat embossed in gold. The sentiment is also stamped in Versamark, but is heat embossed in metallic navy (it’s a new fave).

I love how texture-y this card becomes simply by doing the inlay technique. It’s such a lovely way to make the sentiment the focal point, too.  Check out this prior card of mine to see what I mean. –> CLICK

As always, all my supplies are listed below and are linked to shop for your convenience. Thanks so much for stopping by today.  💗 (Don’t forget to stop by Michele’s blog and The CLASSroom, too!)

Get To Know The EH Design Team Blog Hop

This is an exciting day as we’re *formally* introducing ourselves and the brand-spankin’ new 2018 Ellen Hutson Design Team/Ambassadors. It’s such a joy to be a part of this team and family. I can’t imagine being anywhere else. I’m hoping that you arrived here from Laurel Beard’s blog. Don’t you just love her?

Even as someone who has been a maker of some variety for quite some time (ELEVEN YEARS!!) I always enjoy learning new tips and tricks from other crafters. The latest technique that I’ve learned and love is using Distress Oxide Inks (and some water) on Glossy Cardstock with Distress Glaze. Holy cowabunga, baby!! The finished look is amaaaazing! I’m going to try this on an upcoming blog post and I’m super excited.

For my card today I’m going to share one of *my* favorite techniques., which is watercolor backgrounds. I love to make them bold, loose and as eye-catching as possible.  I love the movement of the watercolor and for your eyes to be struck by the colors. This is not a difficult technique. You just have to put your fear aside…and let go.

LOTS of loose watercoloring from my fave Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolor set. I know many people have switched to tubes and pans. But I just love this set. It works for me. Plus, I can always buy replacement pans when I use an entire pan of color which I LOVE!  They’re super vibrant and you don’t have to buy the large set if you just want to try them out. The pearl colors are just as dreamy.

I used a stencil over the lower half of the card. I simply sponged Versamark through the stencil and then used Perfect Pearls in Sunflower Sparkle.  This gives it a beautiful and glowy look.

Of course, I HAD to give thanks to beautiful Ellen, herself. So, I die-cut the Essentials by Ellen Designer Die Many Thanks by Julie Ebersole 3 times using some scrap cardstock and adhered it to each other. Then I die-cut one more piece in gold glitter cardstock. That one went on top. Lovely dimension and perfectly glittery, too.

Embellishments were last and I added my favorite Sparkling Clear Confetti from Pretty Pink Posh. I think they are always amazing on ANY card.

Colorful and technique-y are kind of what I’m kind of all about.  I don’t mind getting inky and messy. :)

Here are some fun questions we were all asked to answer… Enjoy!

• Coffee or tea?
Most people that know me (even a little) KNOW that I am a coffee freak and post a TON of coffee memes on IG. ;)  ☕

• How did you come up with your blog name?
I am a longtime fan (over 36 years!!) of the rock group Rush. They have an album that is called Grace Under Pressure. On that album there is a symbol of a P/G, which stand for Grace Under Pressure. I loved this so much that rather than calling myself Grace Under Pressure I took the P/G concept and turned it papergrace. An homage to my favorite band and to papercrafts.

• Tell us one silly/random/interesting tidbit about yourself!
I can pop my left shoulder in and out of its socket. Gross, but fun at parties. 😁

All silliness aside, please be sure to hop and say hi to the entire Design Team. These ladies are INSANELY talented!!  Your next stop will be at the fabulous and wonderful Lisa Spangler’s blog!

Catherine Pooler Blog Hop

Hey everyone and welcome to my stop on the Catherine Pooler Blog Hop.  The team at Ellen Hutson LLC is super excited to have the Catherine Pooler products in the shop so we’re celebrating with this awesome hop. You should have arrived at my blog from my friend, and the phenomenally talented, Kittie Caracciolo.

I was so super excited to be able to use the Catherine Pooler inks. I’ve heard so much about how amazing they are. And, if you’ve never tried them? I really DO suggest that you buy a few pads. Everything that you hear about these inks is 100% true. Absolutely ALL of the hype. Since I enjoy doing mixed media, I can be a little rough on my ink pads and these pads are dreamy. One tap with a stamp and you’re set to go. But, even with blending they’re so smooth and clean. Not splotchy and very intense (if you want). I know without a doubt that these with be my new go-to ink pads. They are so worth it.

I did a lot of ink blending over stamped, embossed and die-cut images for my card.

The stamp set is called Zen Feather and is so pretty (you can see most of it in the image above). I stamped 6 of the feathers in Versamark Ink, heat embossed them with Platinum embossing powder, then die-cut each one.

Then using select inks from the Zen Garden Collection (linked below) I sponged and blended 3 colors at a time onto each feather. I love how they turned out. Really beautiful. Prior to adhering to the card front I blended a little of the Shea Butter Ink and also some Polished Ink to the card front in the center where the feathers will be, just to provide a little interest.

Everything then gets adhered down after that. I embellished with some confetti sequins and a little nest of fine string, too. Seemed fitting with the feathers.  ;) I thought about adding a sentiment and then decided I liked it without one…at least on the front. When it gets mailed, I’ll add it inside. There are a few beautiful sentiments included with the set.

Please continue to hop along with us to see all of the rest of the Ellen Hutson, LLC Design Team’s creations. Your next stop is the brilliant MICHELE FERGUSON !! I know that she’ll have something gorgeous in store for you. You can always go back to The CLASSroom if there are any broken links.)

Thanks for stopping by today and enjoy the hop!
