Essentials by Ellen – Christmas in July

Hi friends! Long time no see. :) I’m so happy to be sharing a fun CHRISTMAS card using the beautiful release from the 2016 Essentials by Ellen Holiday Collection for you today.

There’s a few of us sharing cards over on the The CLASSroom blog, so I hope that you’ll check out everyone’s cards and see what we’ve been up to. And maybe to inspire you and give you a head start on creating your holiday cards. (Although I’m a tried and true procrastinator.)

I hope that you like the card that I created. I’ll share a few pics showing just a few of my pics from my process, too.

Usually when I start creating I like to figure out what my stamps are, then what my color “theme” will be. Then I’ll play around a little with a layout. I do this before even stamping a darn thing! I take FOREVER creating. No kidding. But, I really want my cards to be unique and different. And I am in no way a CAS stamper. Once I kind of have a plan in mind? THEN I can start. It’s a bit of a tedious process, but it works for me. And it’s truly the only way that works for me.

With this I started by stamping the wreath onto the Neenah paper. Once stamped (and heat embossed) I die-cut it using the matching die-cut. After it was die-cut, I then used some of the pretty Tonic Nuvo Drops (both Crystal and Glitter). I wanted them in both Glitter and Crystal. And I selected colors that were not necessarily typical holiday colors, but are very happy and fun.

I used the Tonic Nuvo Drops to “color” in the different circles of the wreath. I simply colored in one circle (or wreath bulb) at a time and moved slowly around the wreath.  The Tonic Nuvo Drops dry fairly quickly. Just set aside and be very careful NOT TO TOUCH!! (Ask me how I know.)

The rest of the card is just a matter of putting the pieces into place.  The background patterned paper is so bright and matches the wreath perfectly, but I decided that it might detract from the wreath so I used a piece of vellum to tone it down.  Vellum is so useful and elegant. I love using it on my cards.

For the sentiment I omitted the “sparkle” portion of the stamp (since I’d be using the Sparkle Die) using a post-it-note. This is super easy to do. You could also cut the sentiment stamp apart, but I elected not to do that.

Adding the confetti clear sequins finishes off the card and adds the extra sparkly touch. A sparkly, bright, happy holiday card that’s perfect for anyone! :)

Now onto the creativity! I am designing with a stamp set designed by Julie Ebersole for Ellen Hutson, LLC today. I am so very fortunate to be a member of this wonderful team of creative women. The stamp set I’m using today for my entire project is Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamps, Brushstroke Christmas, by Julie Ebersole.

This card is created by embossing the “Peace on Earth” first and then doing the watercoloring. And additional stamping is done after so it is more subtle, but still seen. The white dots were stamped, but weren’t bright enough. I didn’t want them heat embossed so I just went over them with a white gel pen. (Some have a white pearl on top as an added embellishment.)

When completing the card and adding embellishments, sequins and rhinestones are used to keep the effect rather ethereal.

Here is a close up for you:

Holiday Mixed Media Project

Hi everyone! Running late today due to computer glitches, but I have a Holiday Mixed Media Project up over on the CLASSroom blog for Ellen Hutson and my #TexturalTuesdays series today. I hope you’ll find some time to check it out.

lisaadametz-rangerproductfocus-blog

This project today is featuring a ton of Ranger products so, naturally, it also includes products by Tim Holtz. I used Tim’s new collage mediums, as well. Please check out the post to see what I liked and what I thought was so-so. I use so many different type of collage mediums I was really was looking forward to trying these out! Have any of you used them? What do you think? I’d love to know.

This type of panel is a 4″ x 6″ flat back canvas that come pre-primed so they are perfect for makeing small wall hangings and gifts. I love to work on these since they ARE flat and no priming is necessary. Hole punching is also a breeze if you have a heavy duty hole puncher (which I do).

They hold up to heat and most standard “abuse” fairly well. ;) Make sure to check out the Holiday Mixed Media Project post to see the full tutorial and additional photos for all information on how this is created. They are easily adjusted to your own style and creative needs.

I hope that you all have an amazing week and an amazing Thanksgiving!

Listed below are all of the supplies that I utilized with my affiliate link through Ellen Hutson, if you are interested. Thank you for your support! ♥

Always Remember

Memorial Day is a day to remember the fallen. To show respect, and to honor the brave men and women who DIED while in service to this great nation of ours. We need to always remember these brave souls. And that is what Memorial Day is all about. It’s one day of the year that is set aside to do exactly that. To pay our respects.

I have a card today on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog today to share my respects for those brave men and women. To say that we will always remember.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields. — (Source: Wikipedia)

I created my own Flanders Field of poppies using this gorgeous stamp set from Technique Tuesday called Budding Poppies.

I stamped it once, masked off one of the poppies and stamped it again. This creates a look of dimension and there being more when there isn’t any. The coloring was all done with Distress Markers, which I used as watercolors.

The sentiment (which I LOOOOOVE) comes from another Technique Tuesday stamp set called Poppy Sentiments and is one of my all time faves. I just love this stamp set with my whole heart. My dear friend Teri Anderson designed it and the sentiments in this set are the BEST…along with the poppies, of course.

As for me, I know that I will always remember those that came before me and laid their lives on the line so that I could live in a free country. I am so proud to live in a country like ours. We have so many wonderful opportunities and we have to give thanks where they are due.

Wherever you are, I hope that you will bow your heads in a moment of silence and remember…

Hello Spring

Hey everyone! I have a new card – Hello Spring – on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog today! When I think of Spring I think of my mom’s beautiful daffodil’s that pop up every year. They are so bright, sunny and beautiful. Almost like a ray of sunshine without fail every year in her yard. My mother has such a green thumb, which I sorely lack. Lisa = black thumb. Hahha!!

My Hello Spring card is what I hope a reflection of the beautiful daffodils that I see every year in her yard.  They sure make me smile and I hope that it will make YOU smile too. This is a little sneak peek, as usual. So the pretty daffodils (other than the stalks) can be seen on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog.

LisaAdametz-HelloSpring-03272016-blog

I have a bit of an addiction to watercoloring, so this is a combination of two types: watercolor pencils and Peerless Watercolors. And I love the way the two work together. Heck, there are no rules…why not play with *all* of them?! Do what you love, I say.

I think that this Hello Spring card could be used for so many things, too. Don’t you? It’s just a bright, happy card. Why not make something similar and send it someone whose day needs brightening?

Happy Spring and a Blessed Easter, too. †
