Mixed Media Monthly Challenge – October

Can you believe it’s already October? Time flies. The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge for October is using inspiration from the Mood Board below. It’s so perfect for October and for Fall.

The sponsor for the month is the fabulous Stampotique and they are providing a wonderful gift certificate of $30.00 to the randomly chosen winner.

And we are thrilled to welcome Guest Designer Julie Steed this month to play along with our challenge this month, too! (She’s amazing.)

Being the kitty lover that I am, I used the cute (but scary) Stampotique Kitty Squad to create my square canvas panel below. Love these creepy, cute kitties.

Lisa Adametz Mixed Media Monthly October

It’s cute, huh? Here’s how I made it:

Prime a 6 x 6″ canvas panel using black gesso. Add texture with Neon acrylic paints and bubble wrap, mesh, string and whatever else you have lying around. No kidding! Each layer should be dried prior to adding a new color. Paint different colored circles using whatever circular items you may have. I first use a pencil, then the paint. Wink of Stella in Black is added to the inside of each circle. So shimmery!

Wood veneer stars are coated with black gesso, dried, and small amounts of glue are added to the top. Before the glue is dry, Rock Candy Distress Glitter is added to the top of each star. Then each star is adhered to the canvas.

Believe it or not I actually Copic colored each of the kitties from the stamp set. Yes, I did. It took a while. I probably should have watercolored them, but I really wanted a type of vibrancy  that I *thought* would be easier to achieve with Copic markers. HA!! I was wrong. Took me forever. I have no clue what I’m doing. I’m just glad I didn’t ruin it.

Did I also mention that I also dislike fussy cutting? Aaaaand I did that, too. *sigh*

The last step is to add a little greenery for my kitties. This is done with a little corrugate cardboard and more neon paint. It’s adhered with modeling paste.

Here’s a slightly different view:

Bee Happy!

I was having a super weird day.  Had to chase my postal carrier down after she put a notice in my mailbox saying “sorry I missed you”  WHEN I WAS HOME!!  When I got to her she said, “oh, well I was worried about your dogs”. I don’t have dogs.  Umm… how about you actually check to see if the dogs barking belong to me before leaving those notices? SHEESH!! After paying the amount due for my boyfriends Bug Blaster. (I won’t even get into that.) I was a tad annoyed. Okay, a lot annoyed, but then I started going through the mail and I had happy mail from Neat & Tangled!! YIPPEE!!

Okay, have you seen Danielle’s stamps yet? They are super, uber cute and soooo versatile! When I first laid eyes on them I knew I had to make the card below because I’m just in LVE with that cutie little bee. C’mon, who wouldn’t bee? I mean, be.  Heehee!! ;) All the sets are just really sweet. Just like Danielle. I seriously adore her.

Onto my card! This is VERY Clean & Simple.  Yes, I added a few pearls. But that’s just because I wanted to and I thought it added a little somethin’-somethin’, but it really didn’t neeeeed it, if you know what I mean. I stamped the adorable bee first onto the card front and then onto a scrap of paper. On the scrap piece I colored her (she’s a she-bee) with Copics and filled in her wings with Spica Clear Glitter pen and cut her out. I popped her up on some dimensional adhesive and placed her over the original stamped image for interest.

This card makes ME happy!! I love the paper, the stamps, and the sweet simplicity of it.

I hope you’ve all had a chance to check out Neat & Tangled stamps, too. Danielle’s service is fabulous and the stamps are really fun.

Hope everyone has a really wonderful weekend! Thanks for stopping by.

All my best,

I mentioned in a previous post (on Wednesday, I think) that I’m taking the A Cut Above class with Online Card Classes. This class is all about die-cutting right now. Part two we’ll be using our Silhouette Cameos! Can’t wait for that.

In class yesterday Jennifer McGuire and Amber Daigre taught us all about partial die-cutting. This was something I’d never tried before so I thought I’d give it a go.

Amber gave a really cool idea on her blog, Damask Love, which you can see by clicking HERE. I tried (yes, tried!) to do the same technique on my card, below:

You’ll notice that my letters are not nearly as straight as hers. And, let me just say I tried MANY times to get those stinkin’ things lined up just right! So frustrating!! Grrr… I finally called this one “as good as it gets”. I still think it’s a cool technique, though. Don’t you?

Hope you’re having a great Friday & have fun plans for your weekend. xoxo

Home is Where MY Heart Is

Just a quick little post tonight. Eddy was home today since he took a day off to take me to Social Security so I could get a replacement card (since mine was lost with my wallet). It took a half hour. Poor guy could have just taken a half day off of work. I feel so guilty. But, it was soooo nice having him home. Which brings me to my card….

I made the roof from a piece of wood sheet that I stamped and heat embossed…VERRRRY CAREFULLY!! No fires needed in *this* house. ;)

Hope you all had a great day and thank you, as always, for stopping to have a look at my card. I appreciate your comments more than you’ll ever know. xoxo

All my best,

Road Trippin’

Hi! Happy Sunday. :)  This is gonna be a super quick post as I’m scrambling to make the Market Street Stamps Block Party.  It’s so much fun and there’s all kinds of groovy things that you could win by playing along.

So I really wanted to use a few stamps from the most recent release, but I was having just having a heck of a time. I think this is just the end to my awful week, but I figured I may as well post it anyway. It’s still kind of cute.

The sets I used were Bon Voyage and Travelscapes and I also used papers from the Farmfresh Dreamin’ Kit. (So In Looooove with that kit!)

Anyway, hope y’all had a great weekend and got crafty. I went to a crab feed in Napa. I’m pretty sure I’m STILL full. ;)

Thanks for stopping by to have a look. ♥
