Essentials by Ellen October Release

Hi there everyone and welcome!! We’re doing a little hop to celebrate the fabulous new Essentials By Ellen October Release. I hope that you’ve arrived here from the Mondo talented Julie Ebersole’s blog . If you need to start at the beginning, just go back and start at the CLASSroom.

I’m playing with the super wonderful new stamp and die set called Thistle which was designed by the ever-so-lovely Julie Ebersole. I just love the kind of loose interpretation of what everything is and could be.  This is really gorgeous set.

I also incorporated a few berries and a sentiment from an older stamp set just to make my card complete. This was fairly simple stamping with multiple Distress Inks onto the stamp, stamping, then using a waterbrush, making the image look a bit more watercolor-ish.  I added a brown colored pencil to the center of the leaves. To me, it completed the look. But, it’s just a personal preference.

It would also be fun to mix and match the leaves from the Snailed It stamp set with this one. I simply chose not to.  I hope you won’t hold that against me. :)

Julie’s patterned paper was run through my Minc mini with Gold transfer foil and the gold in the card is perfectly tied together. It’s a super pretty card. And I love the die-cut felt acorns. LOVE THEM!!

This release is so beautiful and sweet. Perfect for Fall. Don’t wait too long if you want to snatch this one up. It will sell out fast.

Next up on today’s awesome hop is the wonderfully talented  Melania Deasy. I know you’re going to love what she created for you.

Thank you for stopping by today! Hope that you enjoy the hop. :) All of my supplies are listed below. (Affiliate links are used when possible.)

Hop for Hope

Hi crafty friends, and welcome to a very special blog hop. A hop for hope. You should have arrived at my blog from the wonderful Laurel Beard‘s blog and your next stop on this hop will be the fabulous Nichol Spohrs blog.

As many of you may or may not know October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The stamp set that we are all using was designed in May to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Fund (BCRF).  Please read the post on The CLASSroom blog to see how this beautiful stamp set all came to be and how YOU can help. –> LINK <–

This is the beautiful stamp and die set we all used:

In honor of this amazing hop, with these beautiful, brave women joined together today, I made a card! Yay!

Really simple, layered stamping with a water-colored pink ribbon. I turned my oval on it’s side for a little interest (which I thought was fun and made things flow much better).

And a close-up!

There is a lot of dimensional adhesive used to give it dimension. Sometimes that isn’t seen when looking at the card as it’s laying flat. But’ the flowers are at different heights and it’s quite fun.

All of the wonderful and talented people involved in this hop are listed below, so please stop and say hi and leave some love.

United We Flourish Hop With Altenew

Hi there!! And welcome to my stop on the hop. You should have have arrived from the fabulous blog of Svitlana Shayevich. She’s SO incredible, isn’t she? WOW!!

I have to tell you how incredibly excited I am about this hop. So many things I love: Ellen Hutson, the United We Flourish Program, Altenew, and POPPIES!! I have a serious love affair for poppies. I have them all over my house.  It’s true. They bring me such joy and hold a special place in my heart. ♥ I’m thrilled to be able to participate in this hop and I know you all will love designing with this multi-layered stamp set just like *I* did.

For my card I wanted to show off the versatility of both the stamp and die.  So I chose to use Distress Oxide Inks to watercolor the Poppy (first on the panel and then for the die-cut piece). And then I used standard Distress Inks to create the background.  Allow me to show you my card:

I first stamped out the Poppy image onto watercolor paper using 3 colors of Distress Oxide Inks. The reason I stamped this first image was to get the ink laid down and to create the watercolor effect I was going for. Using a paintbrush and water I was able to blur the ink and make the edges look more watercolor-y.

I then die-cut a mask of the flower out of Judikins Eclipse Tape .  By doing this I can now create the background without distorting the flower too much.

Placing the sticky mask on top of the flower I created my background using Distress Inks. This could absolutely be done with the Altenew Dye Inks, as well (I just don’t have any. *sad face*) . The colors I used are shown in the photo. (The Evergreen Bough was used as a transition color between the green and blue.)

Using water, a paintbrush, and the black ink from the Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor set I next flicked black ink on top of the panel. This is a dramatic effect I just LOVE!

Stamping and die-cutting the United We Flourish Stamp & Die Combo, Poppy Fields by Altenew flower a SECOND time I added a few details. Black ink was added around the edges for contrast, hints of shimmer to the petal lines, and Glossy Accents to the center. This piece was added using dimensional foam squares.

A piece of black cardstock was prepped with an Inkadinkado Embossing Magic Powder Bag. The sentiment was stamped using Versamark Ink and then heat embossed with white embossing powder.

My Poppy panel was adhered to a piece of the Essentials by Ellen Paper Pack, Modern Graphics by Julie Ebersole and that piece was adhered to my base card. After that? I simply adhered my sentiment with a few foam squares and a few sequins were added.

Here is a close-up:

NOW!! What would a blog hop of ANY kind be without prizes?!!? :D

September Release Hop for Essentials by Ellen

Woohoo!! There’s nothin’ I like better than a new release! How ’bout you? And lucky for YOU Ellen Hutson now has ’em every month! Yeah, baby, yeahhh!! (Said in my best Austin Powers voice. *ahem* If you don’t know, that’s perfectly okay.)

I digress. This month is so amazing. And we have an awesome blog hop this week to get you going. You should have arrived at my blog from the P*H*E*N*O*M*E*N*A*L Tracey McNeely’s blog. In fact, I wouldn’t blame you for going back and hanging out there awhile. She’s pretty stinkin’ talented (as you all know).  And, you can always go back to The CLASSroom to start over or check out any other blogs you may have missed in the hop.

So I made a “Coal” (heh) tag using the Essentials by Ellen Designer Dies, Concertina Tag by Julie Ebersole for both of my projects but one is definitely more Bah Humbuggery (yes, it’s a word!!) and the other is a SET of tags. I hope you like them both.

And here is the tag all closed and tied up. So cute!

And now for my trio of tags. I love the simplicity of these. But the bold POPS! of color are what make these so fun.

That Fall one would be so fun to give at Thanksgiving with a bottle of wine or whatever you’re bringing to the feast, don’t you agree? No one says you HAVE to use holly leaves for Christmas. :)

And don’t forget to check out all the awesome projects from ALL the hoppers, if you haven’t. Thank you SO much for stopping by today!!

Onto some craftiness!

I’m showcasing two stamp sets today.  Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamps, Spa Day by Brandi Kincaid and Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamps, Wonky Backdrops by Julie Ebersole.

The first card that I made just makes me giggle. I used Copic Markers to color the cutie from the Spa Day stamp set, the candle, some flowers and cucumbers. Then I used the coordinating die set and die cut them all out, plus the face mask. I also used the ARC Crafts Cherry wood Veneer Envelopes (what I had on hand) to die cut the mirror. Love that stuff and it makes the mirror more homey looking. The mirror’s bulbs were created using the 4mm Droplets from Pretty Pink Posh, and coloring them with a bright yellow Copic.

I also used the Essentials By Ellen Designer Dies by Brandi Kincaid Mirror, Mirror to create the mirror. The phenomenal quote is from the Spa Day Stamp Set.

My second card is a little bit different, but I hope you like it. I’m using the Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamps, Wonky Backdrops by Julie Ebersole for this one.

The beautiful yellow cardstock was stamped in Versamark repetitively with the polka dots to form the background (using the MISTI) and then heat set using a clear embossing powder.

Then using the large dots from the set I used Distress Inks to create watercolor spots/blobs/dots. ;) Once dried, I stamped over them with Versamark using the sketchy wheel designs from the same set and heat embossed with a gold embossing powder. Using a stamped/heat embossed sentiment from the Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamps, Mirror Mirror by Brandi Kincaid completed the card. I just love how graphic this card is and shows the many ways you can use the stamps from the Wonky Backdrops set.  It’s a keeper! HA!

I hope you enjoyed my cards today. I know I had fun creating them. This is a really great release that has something for everyone. So onto your NEXT stop! The always amazing Sandy Allnock!! Enjoy her wonderful creativity and the rest of the hop.

If you get lost along the hop, please visit the CLASSroom blog for a complete list of all of the designers.
