United We Flourish Better Together Blog Hop

Happy Sunday and welcome to my stop on this super special blog hop. This is a wonderful collaboration between Hero Arts and Ellen Hutson LLC and we’re thrilled to bring this limited United We Flourish release to you today. I hope that you arrived here  from the blog of my friend (and the enormously talented) Libby Hickson.

My card is a tiny bit out of my comfort zone. But as I was creating it, I just went with the flow instead of over-thinking it (as I am VERY prone to do). I’m trying very hard this year to just “let go” with my creativity. And see wherever it takes me. I think you’ll see it in the card, too.

It’s cute, isn’t it? I still did some water color and some ink blending with the background, but I didn’t go overboard.  It’s even (dare I say it?) simple? Or at least it is to me! ;) I also don’t make many cute cards, But, these little love birds were fun.

If you’re a bird-lover? Then this set is for you! It’s full of our fine-feathered friends! And all kind of fun sentiments, too. And, if you’re a collector of the United We Flourish sets, then I know you’ll have fun coloring this one for sure.

Here is a better look at the set and coordinating dies:

Autumn Mixed Media Canvas

Hi everyone! Happy Saturday! I hope you’ll join me on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L blog today where I have an Autumn Mixed Media Canvas to share with you today. Here’s just a taste:

This is a super duper, easy-peasy mixed media canvas to make. It barely even qualifies as mixed media, really, but there IS paint on it, there IS embossing paste, paper, adhesive, sequins, glitter… and even PanPastels. Okay, maybe it IS mixed media. Hahha! I just love all the shimmer and shine this has on it. It turned out very pretty. (If I DO say so myself.)

So, please pop on over to the blog and check out the rest of the photos and the post. And if you have any questions on how I made it? You know where to find me. :)

Happy Thanksgiving

Just a short post today to wish all of my friends in the U.S. and abroad a VERY Happy Thanksgiving!! I hope that you all are surrounded by your loved ones, family, and/or friends. If you don’t live in the U.S. and don’t celebrate Thanksgiving then just know how grateful I am to call you my friend. That you stop by my little part of the web? Means so much to me.

Anyway, I made this card to give to E’s family. Y’know, to say “Thanks for everything” and all that. I made it based on a card that I saw Chari Moss make during a video for Lawn Fawn. (Click the word “video” to watch!) Hers is waaaaay more perfect than mine. Lemme just say that. :)

I wish you all a wonderful day, wherever you are. And I hope that it is a happy day, it’s relaxing, full of good food, and spent with people that make you feel loved.  Happy Thanksgiving!

You are Amazing

It’s my turn on the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Blog today! I’m sharing a card that I made using many of my existing products (as opposed to brand-new) in ways that I hope will help you think outside of the box.

When you create, what are the things that spur you on to try new things? Is it the product itself? Is it how other people use the same product? What makes YOU want to buy something and, when you get it home…use it? Have you been guilty of buying something you thought was soooo wonderful and then *gasp* NEVER. USED. IT?!!

I know I threw  lot of questions of you, but those very questions are why I created the card I did today (and for my tutorial on the blog).

Let me show you my card and then I’ll explain further:

Instead of just using my watercolor pencils to color in an image and make it look all soft and, ummm, water-colory I scribbled on the paper and used a broad water brush to make a background. I also used gesso to make a really nifty bit on the card to draw your eye. I sprinkled it with GLITTAH!! Oh yeah, baby. See what I mean? I know so many people who have gesso and don’t know what to do with it. Well, there ya go. And let me just say a few words about bubble wrap and gesso. Have fun, my friends. Have fun. :)

I’ll be off to CHA this next week, or as they’re calling it now: Create-n-Connect (which sounds so strange, doesn’t it?) I’ll be sure to post highlights and pics as often as I can. If there’s anything in particular you’d like me to take pics of or find out about, please leave me a comment or send me an e-mail. :)

Thanks for stopping by and being the best readers EVER!!

I Am Thankful

This is an absolutely earth-shattering second post from me in TWO days! I KNOW!! You all may pick up your jaws from the floor now. :) Heehee!

I have to admit (if I haven’t already) that I have a deep, deeeep love for the new line from Hero Arts – Stamp Your Story. It’s so artsy, so fun, and sooooooo beautiful! All the stamps are so versatile, too. Whether you’re a cardmaker (like me), a scrapbooker, project life-er, or into mixed media and art journaling. These sets can all be used interchangeably. I seriously love them all. Major swoonage! ♥

Now, confession time. I saw the Painted Canvas stamp in the catalog and thought: “Pfft, I don’t need that! Who needs a stamp of drippy paint when I can do that myself?” Well, apparently I do. Haha!! It makes it much easier to get just the right colors and effects that you want. It’s so super pretty. Just look at what I did with it, the ink daubers, and some additional stamps:

(I love creating cards like this. They just flow.)

Ahhhh…the sentiment? SO easy to create from the variety of sets. And I really AM thankful. While I do have struggles that I deal with on a daily basis, I have to keep myself in check and remember how much I *DO* have to be thankful for. And, I’m so grateful to those of you who continue to stick with me and read my blog. I am so blessed by you. xoxo
