Mixed Media Challenge #32

Welcome to Mixed Media Challenge #32! The very first mixed media challenge of 2017. Can you believe it? 2017. It HAS to be better than 2016.  And we’re starting it off right with this amazing challenge from the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog.

The challenge this month is to create a project using a stencil!  (The above graphic MUST be used in your own blog post.)

The January Sponsor for the Mixed Media Challenge #32 is Mary Beth Shaw of StencilGirl Products.  Mary Beth is offering the lucky random winner a $25 gift certificate to the StencilGirl Store. How awesome is that?

The Mixed Media Challenge Blog is also welcoming a brand new Design Team Member  — LYNNE FORSYTHE !! She is an amazing mixed media artist who currently designs for CanvasCorp Brands, UmWow Studios, and Yvonne Blair Designs/Impression Obsession. We are so lucky to have her as part of the team. Welcome, Lynne!

Okay, so here is what I created with my stencils for the Mixed Media Challenge #32 – Put a Stencil On It.

It’s a 6″ x 6″ piece of watercolor paper mounted on canvas. There’s quite a bit of subtle layering going on that can’t be seen unless you were to examine it in person — and I like that. The nuances, the surprises, the small things you can’t see on a computer screen. These things make me happy.

I imagine you might wonder why I chose such a deep brown on the edges when the center is to vibrant? I thought the interior needed grounding. Like a pulse that oftentimes gets out of control. The brown serves as a ground to that vibrancy. The batik look and feel of this particular stencil works well with a mix of bright, fluid colors.

I hope you’ll join us for the first challenge of this New Year and challenge #32…WOW!

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge – October

Can you believe it’s already October? Time flies. The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge for October is using inspiration from the Mood Board below. It’s so perfect for October and for Fall.

The sponsor for the month is the fabulous Stampotique and they are providing a wonderful gift certificate of $30.00 to the randomly chosen winner.

And we are thrilled to welcome Guest Designer Julie Steed this month to play along with our challenge this month, too! (She’s amazing.)

Being the kitty lover that I am, I used the cute (but scary) Stampotique Kitty Squad to create my square canvas panel below. Love these creepy, cute kitties.

Lisa Adametz Mixed Media Monthly October

It’s cute, huh? Here’s how I made it:

Prime a 6 x 6″ canvas panel using black gesso. Add texture with Neon acrylic paints and bubble wrap, mesh, string and whatever else you have lying around. No kidding! Each layer should be dried prior to adding a new color. Paint different colored circles using whatever circular items you may have. I first use a pencil, then the paint. Wink of Stella in Black is added to the inside of each circle. So shimmery!

Wood veneer stars are coated with black gesso, dried, and small amounts of glue are added to the top. Before the glue is dry, Rock Candy Distress Glitter is added to the top of each star. Then each star is adhered to the canvas.

Believe it or not I actually Copic colored each of the kitties from the stamp set. Yes, I did. It took a while. I probably should have watercolored them, but I really wanted a type of vibrancy  that I *thought* would be easier to achieve with Copic markers. HA!! I was wrong. Took me forever. I have no clue what I’m doing. I’m just glad I didn’t ruin it.

Did I also mention that I also dislike fussy cutting? Aaaaand I did that, too. *sigh*

The last step is to add a little greenery for my kitties. This is done with a little corrugate cardboard and more neon paint. It’s adhered with modeling paste.

Here’s a slightly different view:

New Challenge – Photo Inspiration!

New Month – Photo Inspiration! with the ladies of the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog ! This month’s challenge is sure to inspire you…aaaand we have a fabulous sponsor, as usual. So, check out the details AND my project below.

March 2016 Inspiration Photo

Isn’t this Photo Inspiration just amazing?!!! And just wait until you see what the Design Team has created. JAW DROPPING!!! I kid you not.

Our gracious sponsor this month is the ever so amazing Waffle Flower Crafts. I seriously love them. Amazing company and Nina (head honcho) is just a total gem. She is offering up a VERY generous gift certificate to our monthly winner. How awesome is that?

Waffle Flower Crafts

Now…onto my project! I used the New Challenge – Photo Inspiration and I die cut (from glitter paper) a few oval shapes (no egg dies in this house!), then I created the background using some beautiful acrylic paints, shimmery sprays, and stamps from Waffle Flower Crafts. I used Gel Medium and applied a paper doily to one side. Then I die cut the word “Perfect” several times from black cardstock. I then stamped the word “together” using Versafine and heat emboss it using clear embossing powder.

The “eggs” and the word “together” were popped up using foam squares from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L®. A little green lawn was also die cut and added to the bottom for a little additional fun.

Isn’t it CUTE?!!? Do you get my pun? With the eggs and being “Perfect Together”?!! HAHHAHAH!! Oh, I “crack” myself up!! :D

I really hope that you’ll join us this month. It’s a great month to play along. Get yourself challenged and maybe win a little sumthin’-sumthin’.

Be Awesome Canvas

HUGE EDIT!!

This BE AWESOME CANVAS was supposed to be for Faber-Castell® Design Memory Craft® and their blog, but with the death of their CEO and it did NOT make it to their blog (except for a few hours) and has since been removed. So, I’m sharing the finished piece here along with the sneak peek that I originally shared.

LisaAdametz-BeAwesome-01282016-1

LisaAdametz-BeAwesome-01282016-2

This “Be Awesome Canvas” is using some of the new products just released at CHA: Asphalt Texture Paste and the new Stencil 10 Ct. 301 Collection. But, also mixing it up with some of the oldie-but-goodie products, too. I think that you can see the glimmer in the photo from the Glass Bead Glitter Gel, which is just one of my very favorite products ever. (So happy I got a decent shot of this stuff!!)

I’m not sure when the Be Awesome Canvas makes it officially back up on their blog. When it does make it,  I have a full step-by-step tutorial on how I made this piece. It’s much easier than it looks — I promise.

OH!! And I have a UStream coming up for Faber-Castell, too!! Make sure to check it out. Feb. 3rd at 11:00 AM PST/2:00 PM EST . Should be fun. :) Their channel is located here:  http://www.ustream.tv/channel/designmemorycraft

Mixed Media Canvas for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L®

I have a mixed media canvas for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® on their blog today. It features some of the new products that were released during this most recent CHA. The majority of the products that I used are from Donna Salazar and her Girlie Grunge Line with the company. It features a lot of fun things for mixed media artists AND card makers to take your creativity to the next level.

Here is a peek at what I created:

Isn’t that fun?! Look at all the texture!! And shimmer!!

The new release by Donna has two sets of Tissue Tape, Girlie Grunge Art Medium, Gauze, New Pigment Powder, and I’m sure I’m forgetting something!

Please hop over to the blog to see how I made this Mixed Media Canvas for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L®. It’s a full tutorial with photos and very easy to make. :)

All the products that I used are listed on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog so be sure to go there to see what I used to make this canvas.

Thanks for joining me today!
