September Release Hop for Essentials by Ellen

Woohoo!! There’s nothin’ I like better than a new release! How ’bout you? And lucky for YOU Ellen Hutson now has ’em every month! Yeah, baby, yeahhh!! (Said in my best Austin Powers voice. *ahem* If you don’t know, that’s perfectly okay.)

I digress. This month is so amazing. And we have an awesome blog hop this week to get you going. You should have arrived at my blog from the P*H*E*N*O*M*E*N*A*L Tracey McNeely’s blog. In fact, I wouldn’t blame you for going back and hanging out there awhile. She’s pretty stinkin’ talented (as you all know).  And, you can always go back to The CLASSroom to start over or check out any other blogs you may have missed in the hop.

So I made a “Coal” (heh) tag using the Essentials by Ellen Designer Dies, Concertina Tag by Julie Ebersole for both of my projects but one is definitely more Bah Humbuggery (yes, it’s a word!!) and the other is a SET of tags. I hope you like them both.

And here is the tag all closed and tied up. So cute!

And now for my trio of tags. I love the simplicity of these. But the bold POPS! of color are what make these so fun.

That Fall one would be so fun to give at Thanksgiving with a bottle of wine or whatever you’re bringing to the feast, don’t you agree? No one says you HAVE to use holly leaves for Christmas. :)

And don’t forget to check out all the awesome projects from ALL the hoppers, if you haven’t. Thank you SO much for stopping by today!!

Essentials by Ellen and HoneyBee Hop

Hi! Welcome to my stop on this super special blog hop today. You should have arrived here from the uber-talented Julia Stainton’s blog.

This blog hop is special in that this is the third stamp set with the United We Flourish theme. This set being the collaboration between HoneyBee Stamps and Ellen Hutson LLC

In Ellen’s words, I’d like to share a little bit more about the United We Flourish Program and then I’ll share my card.

Last November we began celebrating our 10th anniversary with the theme United We Flourish. And what does United We Flourish mean? It means that our company would not be here without the amazing companies we work with, the designers who create stunning projects showcasing the wonderful products being created AND you, our fabulous customers! YOU are such a vital part of our creative community – you inspire & encourage us! Your response to United We Flourish was overwhelming and heart-warming. We heard repeatedly from you that you appreciate how our little company works together with the other manufacturers we carry to bring you their products and education showing how to use those products. To thank you for your constant support and encouragement, we have partnered with some of our friends to offer exclusive limited edition stamp & die sets!!! These sets will be available for a limited time (most likely 3-6 months) after each release, depending on how quickly you snap them up. The theme of these stamps sets are uplifting and fun.

We are thrilled to present the third one to you…Sending Sunshine by Honey Bee Stamps exclusively for Ellen Hutson LLC.

And here is my card!

And here’s how I made it! I simply smooshed my Distress Oxide Inks onto my craft mat and spritz with water.

Place your paper into the ink and be fearless!! Don’t be afraid to press it into different areas. If it pools on the edges, tap it onto a paper towel. You can dry if you’re happy either by heat tool or by air. Use more color…or finish.

I like a slightly more distressed look so I usually add water at this point. Just spritz water into your hand and allow droplets to fall onto the panel or use a wet paintbrush and flick water. Just be sure to use a clean paper towel to “bleach” the color out for the best effect.

I die cut a few shapes out of the paper that I wished to use.  The Sun Ray is from Essentials By Ellen Designer Dies, Silver Linings by Julie Ebersole  and the sun is from the Essentials by Ellen Designer Dies, All Inside by Julie Ebersole.

For that amaaaaazing sparkle I used one of my favorite products: Nuvo Glimmer Paste in Moonstone. I used a palette knife and scraped it on top of my paper. The paste picks up the color of what’s underneath. And simply SHINES!! It’s so pretty.

I die-cut the words “Sending” and “Sunshine” out of white and black cardstock and adhered the pieces together using Ranger Multi Medium in Matte. Then I stamped the words “A Little” out of Versafine Onyx Black onto Vellum and heat embossed with Clear embossing powder.

All of the various pieces were adhered to another colored piece of cardstock. Which was then layered on two MORE pieces of cardstock! Embellishments were added and this card was done. Here’s a close up for ya…

Don’t forget that there are **PRIZES** involved in this hop.  Oh yes!! Two randomly selected commenters  will win a $30 gift certificate to the Ellen Hutson shop. To enter just leave a comment on either the Ellen Hutson Classroom blog or the HoneyBee Blog  by 11:59pm PST on Friday, September 8.

Essentials by Ellen – Christmas in July

Hi friends! Long time no see. :) I’m so happy to be sharing a fun CHRISTMAS card using the beautiful release from the 2016 Essentials by Ellen Holiday Collection for you today.

There’s a few of us sharing cards over on the The CLASSroom blog, so I hope that you’ll check out everyone’s cards and see what we’ve been up to. And maybe to inspire you and give you a head start on creating your holiday cards. (Although I’m a tried and true procrastinator.)

I hope that you like the card that I created. I’ll share a few pics showing just a few of my pics from my process, too.

Usually when I start creating I like to figure out what my stamps are, then what my color “theme” will be. Then I’ll play around a little with a layout. I do this before even stamping a darn thing! I take FOREVER creating. No kidding. But, I really want my cards to be unique and different. And I am in no way a CAS stamper. Once I kind of have a plan in mind? THEN I can start. It’s a bit of a tedious process, but it works for me. And it’s truly the only way that works for me.

With this I started by stamping the wreath onto the Neenah paper. Once stamped (and heat embossed) I die-cut it using the matching die-cut. After it was die-cut, I then used some of the pretty Tonic Nuvo Drops (both Crystal and Glitter). I wanted them in both Glitter and Crystal. And I selected colors that were not necessarily typical holiday colors, but are very happy and fun.

I used the Tonic Nuvo Drops to “color” in the different circles of the wreath. I simply colored in one circle (or wreath bulb) at a time and moved slowly around the wreath.  The Tonic Nuvo Drops dry fairly quickly. Just set aside and be very careful NOT TO TOUCH!! (Ask me how I know.)

The rest of the card is just a matter of putting the pieces into place.  The background patterned paper is so bright and matches the wreath perfectly, but I decided that it might detract from the wreath so I used a piece of vellum to tone it down.  Vellum is so useful and elegant. I love using it on my cards.

For the sentiment I omitted the “sparkle” portion of the stamp (since I’d be using the Sparkle Die) using a post-it-note. This is super easy to do. You could also cut the sentiment stamp apart, but I elected not to do that.

Adding the confetti clear sequins finishes off the card and adds the extra sparkly touch. A sparkly, bright, happy holiday card that’s perfect for anyone! :)

Onto some craftiness!

I’m showcasing two stamp sets today.  Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamps, Spa Day by Brandi Kincaid and Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamps, Wonky Backdrops by Julie Ebersole.

The first card that I made just makes me giggle. I used Copic Markers to color the cutie from the Spa Day stamp set, the candle, some flowers and cucumbers. Then I used the coordinating die set and die cut them all out, plus the face mask. I also used the ARC Crafts Cherry wood Veneer Envelopes (what I had on hand) to die cut the mirror. Love that stuff and it makes the mirror more homey looking. The mirror’s bulbs were created using the 4mm Droplets from Pretty Pink Posh, and coloring them with a bright yellow Copic.

I also used the Essentials By Ellen Designer Dies by Brandi Kincaid Mirror, Mirror to create the mirror. The phenomenal quote is from the Spa Day Stamp Set.

My second card is a little bit different, but I hope you like it. I’m using the Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamps, Wonky Backdrops by Julie Ebersole for this one.

The beautiful yellow cardstock was stamped in Versamark repetitively with the polka dots to form the background (using the MISTI) and then heat set using a clear embossing powder.

Then using the large dots from the set I used Distress Inks to create watercolor spots/blobs/dots. ;) Once dried, I stamped over them with Versamark using the sketchy wheel designs from the same set and heat embossed with a gold embossing powder. Using a stamped/heat embossed sentiment from the Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamps, Mirror Mirror by Brandi Kincaid completed the card. I just love how graphic this card is and shows the many ways you can use the stamps from the Wonky Backdrops set.  It’s a keeper! HA!

I hope you enjoyed my cards today. I know I had fun creating them. This is a really great release that has something for everyone. So onto your NEXT stop! The always amazing Sandy Allnock!! Enjoy her wonderful creativity and the rest of the hop.

If you get lost along the hop, please visit the CLASSroom blog for a complete list of all of the designers.

#TexturalTuesdays and Hedgehugs

Hi there crafty friends and welcome to #TexturalTuesdays and Hedgehugs! :) Otherwise known as the first #TexturalTuesdays of 2017.

It’s going to be a fun one today as I share a card made using Avery Elle products made by Heather Campbell who is also a designer for Ellen Hutson. She is so amazing.

This card I made for #TexturalTuesdays is using tons of color mediums: Copic markers, Zig Clean Color Markers, and Distress Inks!! All on one card.  And I *think* I pulled it off.  ;)  As I sold most of my Copics? This was way out of my comfort zone, but I still did it.  Sometimes you just have to take the bull by the horns. I knew in order to give the hedgie the perfect quills, the Copic markers would be the best way to go.

For all of the behind the scenes action on the card, I urge you to check out the CLASSroom blog for my #TexturalTuesdays and Hedgehugs card. You’ll read more about how this card was created and see more photos, as well.

All of the supplies for this card are listed below. As I am an affiliate for Ellen Hutson, I do receive a small, teeny tiny, itty-bitty commision for anything you  purchase through me. And I thank you in advance. It keeps my blog semi working (ha!) and bug free. ♥

Wishing you all a wonderful day! xo
