Onto some craftiness!

I’m showcasing two stamp sets today.  Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamps, Spa Day by Brandi Kincaid and Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamps, Wonky Backdrops by Julie Ebersole.

The first card that I made just makes me giggle. I used Copic Markers to color the cutie from the Spa Day stamp set, the candle, some flowers and cucumbers. Then I used the coordinating die set and die cut them all out, plus the face mask. I also used the ARC Crafts Cherry wood Veneer Envelopes (what I had on hand) to die cut the mirror. Love that stuff and it makes the mirror more homey looking. The mirror’s bulbs were created using the 4mm Droplets from Pretty Pink Posh, and coloring them with a bright yellow Copic.

I also used the Essentials By Ellen Designer Dies by Brandi Kincaid Mirror, Mirror to create the mirror. The phenomenal quote is from the Spa Day Stamp Set.

My second card is a little bit different, but I hope you like it. I’m using the Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamps, Wonky Backdrops by Julie Ebersole for this one.

The beautiful yellow cardstock was stamped in Versamark repetitively with the polka dots to form the background (using the MISTI) and then heat set using a clear embossing powder.

Then using the large dots from the set I used Distress Inks to create watercolor spots/blobs/dots. ;) Once dried, I stamped over them with Versamark using the sketchy wheel designs from the same set and heat embossed with a gold embossing powder. Using a stamped/heat embossed sentiment from the Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamps, Mirror Mirror by Brandi Kincaid completed the card. I just love how graphic this card is and shows the many ways you can use the stamps from the Wonky Backdrops set.  It’s a keeper! HA!

I hope you enjoyed my cards today. I know I had fun creating them. This is a really great release that has something for everyone. So onto your NEXT stop! The always amazing Sandy Allnock!! Enjoy her wonderful creativity and the rest of the hop.

If you get lost along the hop, please visit the CLASSroom blog for a complete list of all of the designers.

Ink Week

Hey there! It’s Ink Week over on the CLASSroom blog for Ellen Hutson and I’m so lucky to be able to feature Distress Inks on this #TexturalTuesday.

I had so much fun making this card. Lots of ink blending and the addition of Texture Paste. Very textural.

Let me show you the card and then tell you a little bit more about Ink Week.

Using the gold to bring out the colors underneath was something I’m hoping I pulled off. To me, being able to see the full image isn’t important, but to make the card/colors/imagery make you feel something. I hope that makes sense. This is one of the reasons I love mixed media so much. It’s not what you necessarily see, but what you feel that’s important.

For how I made the card, all of the details are on the CLASSroom blog. There are lots of photos and information for you, if you’d like to replicate the card.

Ellen is also doing a full-on Ink Week! All of the designers are featuring a different ink and how we use them in our posts. Not only that, she is running a wonderful promotion.

Click on the image above to be taken directly to the sale. I hope that you’ll take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to stock up on your inks!

This Ink Week is going to feature a lot of different ways to use your inks and many different styles so stay tuned for the whole week.

I’m including all of my supplies below for my project, some were purchased by me and some were provided for promotional purposes. These ARE affiliate links so if you choose to shop using the links below I do earn an itty-bitty commission from your purchase. This keeps me running! xo

Oh Happy Day

Aaaaand it’s #TexturalTuesdays!! Yay!! Oh Happy Day! Which also happens to be the sentiment that I used from the very sweet Oh Happy Birds Stamp set that I used for my card today. My card in The CLASSroom with Ellen Hutson is featuring Mama Elephant and Molotow Masking Pens.

I may have tried too hard to make the pens work. Or overthought it. Which I do. It’s not rocket science, but when something is new to you, and you’re really NOT sure what to do with it or how to fit it into your world…overthinking comes soooo easily. ;)

Here is a photo of my Oh Happy Day card:

I love using loose watercoloring for backgrounds. The Molotow Masking Pens are very useful in keeping desired areas completely free of ink and paint. I do believe that I need more practice in using them, however. (Keeping it real.)

It gets frustrating when you just want to complete your project and all you do is mess up, though. *sigh*

If you have one of these pens I’d love to hear your feedback! Now that mine is done, though? It really IS “Oh Happy Day!”

Please check out my complete post on The CLASSroom Blog for all my pics and my full step-by-step whinefest details on how I made the card with tips and tricks.

All of my supplies are listed below. These ARE affiliate links, if you would like to shop with me at Ellen Hutson. I earn a very small percentage each time you shop. Thank you. xo

Happy Veterans Day!

Happy Veterans Day! Today is a day that I salute and thank ALL veterans before me (and after me) who served and sacrificed to protect this beautiful country that I call home. Without you all I doubt we’d still be this great nation.  It’s not always perfect here, but I’d never want to live anywhere else and I am so proud to be an American.

I am on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog today with a card that I’m just so proud of. I hope that you’ll like it, too. All of the details for the card are on the blog. Click HERE.

So, to celebrate this very Happy Veterans Day, I want to say to all of the Veterans out there…You are MY hero. Thank you for standing in the face of adversity, for having the courage to hold your hand up and swear to defend our Constitution, for being brave (always), and for being the face of freedom. God bless you all.

Happy Veterans Day to you all.
