Mother’s Day

Hey!! Happy Tuesday :) I have a brand new card up on the CLASSroom blog for Ellen Hutson today and I figured with Mother’s Day this weekend I’d make a Mother’s Day card for my mama….y’know since she rocks and gave me life and all. I can’t imagine that having ME as a kid was easy, but I am forever grateful for putting up with my crap. She’s a rock star in my world.

I made her Mother’s Day card using tons of dimension and felt flowers since I know she loves them so much. I tried to make it a card from MY heart just for her. That’s what a Mother’s Day card should be, right?

Anyway, here’s a peek at the card.

Mother's Day 2016

There are so many tiny little details to this card. I really hope that you’ll check out the post and tutorial that I created to go along with it over at the CLASSroom today. There are plenty of photos to go along with it and I’ll have all the supplies listed below.

What do you have planned for Mother’s Day? I’m not a mom, so we’re (my sister and I) are taking my mother out to a place that she has selected for lunch on Sunday. My mom is at an age where she doesn’t really like to go out late (past 5:00pm….hahha!!), so lunch it is. Plus, my mom and I will be doing the Susan Komen Walk for the Cure the day before and I think she could be a wee bit tired. ;) Should be a fun weekend.

I hope that you all have a blessed Mother’s Day, whether you are a mother or not. Know that you ARE loved, cherished, and treasured. ♥

Celebrate

Hi! I have a really fun and funky card on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog today.  I made it just in time to celebrate Independence Day. Yay!!

In our house we love the 4th of July. We get the best seats in the house for the fireworks as there is a college and a golf course very close by that put on shows and we get to see BOTH! It’s awesome.

But, it’s not just that. Every day I’m just thankful to be an American. I take my rights and my freedoms very seriously. And I think that a day like Independence Day should be celebrated, but we should also remember what we’re celebrating and why. We tend to forget these things and neglect to teach our children the importance of history.

So enjoy my super cute card. :) But don’t forget to raise your flag on the 4th. And maybe say the Pledge of Allegiance, if you remember it. And then come back here and look at my cute card again. Hahha! Okay, okay…I know I’m pushing it. I wish you all a wonderful week and a healthy, happy holiday.

Smile!

I have had so many reasons to smile lately. My sister has been here visiting from Nevada and I can’t think of ANY bigger reason to smile than having my one and only sibling right here to spend a few days with me. She and her hubby are going to spend a few days enjoying the sights of the Bay Area.  I know that they’re going to love it. It’s so pretty here!

But, I had work to do, too! One of those things was to make a card for the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Design Team. Not exactly a hard task. ;) (Check out the post for the card below HERE )

Here is my card:

LisaAdametz-SmileHello-1

I’ve needed to make a lot of “thinking of you”, “hello”, -type cards lately and this was an easy one to make yet is pretty enough that I feel like it’s still me. Does that makes sense? I tend to usually like to make “fussier” cards, but I know that when you mass produce something it needs to be E-A-S-Y!! ;)

I love the speech bubble sentiments from Mama Elephant. Aren’t they cute? I wanted to have an elegant looking card with all of the gold and black, but still have it look happy. Hence the polka dots and the speech bubbles! Did it work? Are you smiling?

All of the awesome adhesives from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L®  make this card super duper easy to pull together, too. LOVE THAT!!

Hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day. God Bless America!

Happy Easter – MIX63

I love it when my pal Tiffany from I Heart Art Blog asks if I’d like to create a card or project for one of her Mixability Challenges on Splitcoaststampers. I don’t even have to hesitate….YES!!! The challenges are so fun and so cool! They’re Mixed Media challenges and you don’t have to be an expert. In fact, it’s great for those who want to learn about Mixed Media. My other pal, Lydia, explains more about the challenges here:

This is a mixed media challenge, with the goal of teaching people how simple Mixed Media can be, and how you can get a range of looks with Mixed Media – Clean & Simple, Vintage, Modern, Abstract, Grunge and much more.

A “medium” can be any of the following:

  • Pencils – wax, oil, watercolor, graphite/charcoal, chalk/pastel
  • Pastels – chalk, oil
  • Markers – watercolor, pigment, water-based, acrylic
  • Pens – ink, glitter
  • Pigments – Gelatos, watercolor crayons, metallic rubons
  • Paints – watercolor, acrylic, oil, poster, tempera
  • Inks – dye, chalk, distress, reinkers, pigment, hybrid
  • Powders – mica, pigment, chalk
  • Sprays & airbrushing
  • Dimensionals – embossing paste, gesso, fabric, found items, papers (collage, piecing) & ephemera, foils
  • Heated elements – encaustic wax, embossing

And a “mix” can be any two or more of these items or others.

So, Tiffany’s challenge this week is Easter or Spring themed! And, I have tons or Spring colored stuff just oozing all over the place. But, I knew in the deepest part of my heart that I really wanted to make an Easter card. Not a bunny-foo-foo type of Easter card, either. One that celebrates the true meaning of Easter. So I combined the colors and florals of Spring with the wood and gold to represent the Church.  I hope as you look at the card you can see all the different elements that are there.

Believe it or not, this whole card started with the patterned paper from Prima called Free Spirit. It’s really beautiful paper and I just cut random sized strips and stuck them onto typing (copy) paper using Gel Medium. Once the Gel Medium is dry then I used the Stamper’s Big Brush Pens and Gelatos® to highlight and add contrast. I also used a stencil and Whipped Spackle to add a little interest. The cross is a Spellbinders Shapeabilities die cut created from adhesive back wood paper from ARC Crafts. The leaves are called Dancing Leaves and they were cut out of vellum and colored on the back side with a Stamper’s Big Brush Pen and then wiped with a baby wipe.

It was just a little bit labor intensive. Maybe not a mass production card. ;) But, I really love how it turned out and it’s nice and flat, so perfect for mailing to someone special. (I know my folks will LOVE it!! ♥)

Wishing you all wonderful and blessed Easter! From Millan.Net

Clearly In Love

Happy Valentine’s Day, Love Birds! :)

I actually am not a fan of “fake” holidays like this, but what the heck…gives me an opportunity to make another themed card, right? And this one is super cool. I was asked by by super, duper awesomely sweet friend Tiffany Johnson of iheartart to make a card for her Mix-Ability Challenge on SplitcoastStampers (Clear Love). And when Tiff asks? I say “yes!”

I wanted to make my card Valentine-y, but have her Mixed Media theme in mind of using all things CLEAR. I chose to use Wendy Vecchi‘s Clearly for Art Modeling Film. This stuff is amazing to work with. It’s thicker than acetate, but takes alcohol inks like a DREAM. Here’s the card and then I’l explain my process a little:

Clearly4LoveMIX55

I used a steel rule die and some smaller thin dies (run through my die cutting machine with a metal shim several times) to cut the film.  I colored the pieces with varying shades of alcohol inks and glued them together with a very sturdy glue.

The little piece at the top is a free-form heart. Which means that it kinda *boings* around. Pretty fun! I cut a thin strip of the modeling film and glued it to the back of the banner hearts and the small heart to accomplish this. I thought it was a fun touch. :)

The whole card has tons of dimension and is super shiny. There’s lots of glitter, glimmer, and color on this. Clearly.

Wishing you all a a VERY Happy Valentine’s Day. From Millan.Net
