You are Amazing

It’s my turn on the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Blog today! I’m sharing a card that I made using many of my existing products (as opposed to brand-new) in ways that I hope will help you think outside of the box.

When you create, what are the things that spur you on to try new things? Is it the product itself? Is it how other people use the same product? What makes YOU want to buy something and, when you get it home…use it? Have you been guilty of buying something you thought was soooo wonderful and then *gasp* NEVER. USED. IT?!!

I know I threw  lot of questions of you, but those very questions are why I created the card I did today (and for my tutorial on the blog).

Let me show you my card and then I’ll explain further:

Instead of just using my watercolor pencils to color in an image and make it look all soft and, ummm, water-colory I scribbled on the paper and used a broad water brush to make a background. I also used gesso to make a really nifty bit on the card to draw your eye. I sprinkled it with GLITTAH!! Oh yeah, baby. See what I mean? I know so many people who have gesso and don’t know what to do with it. Well, there ya go. And let me just say a few words about bubble wrap and gesso. Have fun, my friends. Have fun. :)

I’ll be off to CHA this next week, or as they’re calling it now: Create-n-Connect (which sounds so strange, doesn’t it?) I’ll be sure to post highlights and pics as often as I can. If there’s anything in particular you’d like me to take pics of or find out about, please leave me a comment or send me an e-mail. :)

Thanks for stopping by and being the best readers EVER!!

Love You

I made a card! Yay! :)

I actually was thrilled that Simon Says Stamp had that fabby 20% off sale so even though I couldn’t buy a lot, I still bought a few things and I’m excited to show you a card I made with two of the yummy dies that I’d been coveting.

So here are the dies that I’ve been drooling over:

Aren’t they beautiful? Now, to the naked eye they may not look like too much, but you have to open your mind and just imagine the possibilities!! I knew immediately I wanted to make a card for my Mom and what colors and EVERYTHING I wanted to use. Here’s the card I made:

It’s pretty, isn’t it? I love the not-quite-white with the gold and the hemp twine with the wood banner. AND the bit of vellum. It just looks rustic chic to me. Is that a new trend?!!? :D I can’t wait to send it out to my Mom. I sure do love her. ♥

Hope you’re all doing wonderful and had a great weekend.

Be Happy

Happy Saturday! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend planned and that the weather is being kind to you wherever you are. It’s my turn over on the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft blog today and I made a really fun, colorful background with my Gelatos® and some sticky backed canvas. I hope you’ll go over and check it out.

Here’s a little sneak peek to whet your appetite (so to speak):

Not a WHOLE lot to go on, but enough to make you wanna go over and see the entire card I hope. Right….right…riiiiiiiight? :D

It was a really easy card to make as you’ll see over there since I give you a step-by-step little how-to guide and I’m telling ya…get some Gelatos®, my friends. It’s time to get over the fear and start having fun.

Have a great weekend and I’ll see you around, okay? :)

Oh Baby!

My sister is so awesome. She really is!! Honest!! Instead of going to the store, in Germany no less, she asked me to make a baby card for a friend of hers. What an honor!! Now, I’ll be the first to admit I’m not the first person *I’D* turn to to make a baby card seeing as a know absolutely NOTHING about babies. Sad, but true. But, I was thrilled that she asked. :)

The catch came in that the baby’s mother is Wiccan. So my sister asked that the card is not overly baby-ish, is not TOO cutesy, and had no baby colors. Ummm…okay.  This is what I made. I shared a pic with my sister last night and she approves. Yay!

I did have a few issues with this relatively easy-looking card. First, I’m disliking Tombow Mono-Multi glue. For fine die cuts like the “Oh” it leaves a sticky outline. I don’t want a card recipient touching their card and going, “Ewwww” when they find that it’s sticky. That’s so gross. Also, the Swiss Dots embossing folder isn’t long enough to emboss the entire card base. So I had to slide it to the end, line up the dots, and emboss it again. Thankfully that worked. All-in-all, the card turned out fairly sweet, And I liked being able to piece together my own sentiment.  The teeny onesies are just too cute, too! (She’ll just have to live with that. Haha!!)

I’d love to hear what you think. Also, please let me know if you have any alternatives to the Tombow. That stuff is making me bonkers.

Have a great week, my friends!

Love You Friend

I am so incredibly blessed. Very, very blessed. I have many wonderful people in my life that care about me and I am so very thankful for that.

I’ve decided to make some really hard changes in my life. I had to take a long, hard look at myself and what I was putting into my body. And my relationship with food. While I’ve been on diets on the past, I’ve always backed out of them or made excuses, or some silly thing. But, I can’t do that anymore. The older I get I know that I can’t keep fooling myself. No one can make the changes for me. Only I have control. And only I am IN control of me.

I started a little 3-day cleanse on Tuesday and tonight will complete it. What I’ve come to realize in this 3 days is that I CAN do this. And that…WOW…my friends ROCK!! You all have been so supportive, so uplifting, and just been major boosts for my sagging spirits.  And I know that while I make these major changes, I may stumble, heck, I may fall, but with you all by by side? I will never, EVER be alone. I love you all so very much. Today’s card is for you.

Please know how very much you all mean to me. And I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
