Always Remember

Memorial Day is a day to remember the fallen. To show respect, and to honor the brave men and women who DIED while in service to this great nation of ours. We need to always remember these brave souls. And that is what Memorial Day is all about. It’s one day of the year that is set aside to do exactly that. To pay our respects.

I have a card today on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog today to share my respects for those brave men and women. To say that we will always remember.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields. — (Source: Wikipedia)

I created my own Flanders Field of poppies using this gorgeous stamp set from Technique Tuesday called Budding Poppies.

I stamped it once, masked off one of the poppies and stamped it again. This creates a look of dimension and there being more when there isn’t any. The coloring was all done with Distress Markers, which I used as watercolors.

The sentiment (which I LOOOOOVE) comes from another Technique Tuesday stamp set called Poppy Sentiments and is one of my all time faves. I just love this stamp set with my whole heart. My dear friend Teri Anderson designed it and the sentiments in this set are the BEST…along with the poppies, of course.

As for me, I know that I will always remember those that came before me and laid their lives on the line so that I could live in a free country. I am so proud to live in a country like ours. We have so many wonderful opportunities and we have to give thanks where they are due.

Wherever you are, I hope that you will bow your heads in a moment of silence and remember…

Hello Spring

Hey everyone! I have a new card – Hello Spring – on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog today! When I think of Spring I think of my mom’s beautiful daffodil’s that pop up every year. They are so bright, sunny and beautiful. Almost like a ray of sunshine without fail every year in her yard. My mother has such a green thumb, which I sorely lack. Lisa = black thumb. Hahha!!

My Hello Spring card is what I hope a reflection of the beautiful daffodils that I see every year in her yard.  They sure make me smile and I hope that it will make YOU smile too. This is a little sneak peek, as usual. So the pretty daffodils (other than the stalks) can be seen on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog.

I have a bit of an addiction to watercoloring, so this is a combination of two types: watercolor pencils and Peerless Watercolors. And I love the way the two work together. Heck, there are no rules…why not play with *all* of them?! Do what you love, I say.

I think that this Hello Spring card could be used for so many things, too. Don’t you? It’s just a bright, happy card. Why not make something similar and send it someone whose day needs brightening?

Happy Spring and a Blessed Easter, too. †

A Sympathy Card

I have a post over on the Scrapbook Adhesives Blog by 3L® blog today. That card is a Sympathy Card.  I made it for my dear friend, Holly. I wish I had words for what Holly means to me. Knowing that she is in pain over the loss of her father just tears me up inside.  She is one of the most gentle, caring, smartest, loving, amazing human beings I am privileged to know.

Making this card for her was so hard. Making ANY Sympathy Card is hard. You just want to hold the person you care about, tell them everything will be okay (even though you feel like such a liar), let them know how much they mean to you. But somehow…it all seems like it’s not enough. You can’t bring back their loved one. That loss can’t be undone. No words, no card, nothing can un-break the heart…not right now.

I made this Sympathy Card for Holly. Because I love her. And I feel her pain because she is like a sister to me. And I wish I could take her pain away.  I hate that she is hurting. That her whole family is grieving. Her father sounded like an amazing man. He had to have been. He raised a wonderful daughter.

Love Always

Hello! I have a brand new card up on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog today that I’m excited to share with you.  I’m using the January Greenhouse Society Set – Crocus from Technique Tuesday  which includes the sentiment, “Love Always” in a beautiful font.

Of course, this is just a sneak peek of the card. There is MUCH more to see for this “Love Always” card on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog, so you’ll really want to go there to check out the whole kit and kaboodle (whatever that means anyway!).

I used a few different dies, some very pretty (and NEW!) patterned paper, and one of the lovely new pigment powders that Donna Salazar just released at this past CHA for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L®. Oh! And I also used her Girlie Grunge Art Medium. Fun stuff!

It’s a pretty card so I hope that you’ll make your way over to their blog.  Love always….

Technique Tuesday is so super excited to have this collaboration of beautiful stamps and dies with the phenomenally talented Cath Edvalson and today is the day that we designers get to show YOU all the fun things you can do with her amazing new line with Technique Tuesday.

I made two card using some of the new products. They are just so versatile!! The card on the left uses the Chain of Flowers die (the negative and the positive) and also the My Friend from Garden Flowers die set. The card on the right again uses the Garden Flowers die set, but also the Garden Leaves die set, and the Garden of Life Stamp set!!

LisaAdametz-Cath-TechTues-bloghop-09142015

I used Gelatos® to create background prior to making the panel with the Chain of Flowers die. Then snipping a few of the flowers off and popping them up with itsy, bitsy pieces of foam tape makes it look so different! I die-cut the sentiment twice from two separate colors of card stock. I then off-set them slight prior to adhering to the front panel for a little more interest.

For the second card I used water color pencils once the flowers and leaves were stamped and die-cut. Super easy and just a beautiful result. Since the flowers were so colorful I decided to go with a muted and graphic card front and base.

Fun, huh?

So…now on to what everyone loves. FREE STUFF!! Technique Tuesday is going to give away three prizes. One person will a package consisting of all 5 of Cath’s new products. Technique Tuesday will also give away two $25 gift certificates.

The three winners will be chosen at random from all the comments left during the hop on all the blog stops. To be eligible to win, blog hoppers need to just leave a comment on any of the blog hop stops. The more comments they leave during the hop, the more chances they have to win.
**Folks have through midnight PST on Sept. 16th, 2015, to leave comments. The three winners will be announced on the Technique Tuesday blog on Sept. 18th, 2015. **
