Essentials by Ellen November Release

Hi there everyone and welcome!! We’re doing a little hop to celebrate the fabulous new Essentials By Ellen November Release. I hope that you’ve arrived here from the amazingly talented Sharon Harnist’s blog . If you need to start at the beginning, just go back and start at the CLASSroom.

I’m so lucky in that I was able to play with a stamp set that is right up my alley! This beautiful stamp set is called Abstract Paint Strokes which was designed by the uber talented Julie Ebersole. This is that kind of stamp set that you can use in a bajillion different ways. You’ll see all the different ways by all the talented designers throughout the hop. Use rainbow inks, pastel inks, watercolors, Christmas colors…you’ll get the idea! And the more you use these stamps, the more excited you’ll get!

I combined the Abstract Paint Strokes set with the Rustic Botanicals Stamp Set by Julie Ebersole to create my card:

And, in a nutshell, I simply used Distress Oxide Inks (which you can substitute with your favorite dye ink – I just happen to like the chalky effect of these inks) for the colored parts. Once dry, I stamped the three floral images in Onyx Black Versafine and then heat set with clear embossing powder. I repeat this with a gold embossing powder for the “dot” images. (It’s showing copper in my photo – my apologies.) The only suggestion I would have is to allow for white space. If you get overly heavy handed in “Lisa’s opinion” it just might look a little crazy. Which, hey, could look really amazing. I’m never one to knock crazy! ;) You do you. The only person that has to be happy at the end of the day is you. Right? Right!

Let’s see, where was I? Okay, I stamped the sentiment with Versamark onto a  piece of black cardstock and then heatset with white embossing powder. And popped it up with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Foam Squares. And I added just a dab of Nuvo Crystal Drops in Bright Gold to the center of the flower. That’s it.  Fairly simple, but a lovely card.

I know that you’ll LOVE your next stop on the hop which is with my wonderful friend and incredibly talented Ellen Hutson teammate, Kittie Caracciolo ⇐⇐⇐ CLICK!!! If you should get lost or just want to go back to top the top of the hop? Then please go to the CLASSroom.

Let’s Cuddle

I have a new card on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog today, appropriately called “Let’s Cuddle” since I used a super cute sentiment of that name to make it.

And did you know how hard it is to make a card when you don’t feel good? Well, let me raise my hand high in the air to tell you all about it. Wish I could have dreamed up a card and had it come to fruition instead. The sweet Die-Namics mittens and “Let’s Cuddle” stamp from My Favorite Things kind of saved the day. And, of course, along with all of my yummy adhesives from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® and the pretty patterned paper from My Mind’s Eye, the card didn’t take too long. (Even with frequent breaks.)

I hope you like how it turned out:

Cute, huh? And doesn’t the patterned paper remind you of a warm, fuzzy sweater?

Even though I tend to be more of a non-traditionalist when it comes to Christmas and color I think that this is fun, especially with the grey.

This card is easy enough to make that it could be mass produced…if you wanted to. I think for me I’d still have to go with funkier colors personally, but it sure is cute. And if you know someone who needs a cuddle or if YOU do? This card is perfect. :) Don’t forget to check out the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog for more info and details.

U.S.A. Card

Hey everyone! I have a really fun U.S.A. Card over on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog today that I’d love to share with all of you. I really get such enjoyment from making patriotic cards. Must be that veteran in me or military brat…or something, huh? Nothing makes me prouder than seeing the ‘ol red white and blue.

Here’s a look at the card:

Isn’t it FUN?!! I love using dies with different patterned papers to create that inlay effect. This die is from Technique Tuesday and it’s called Nested Stars. I kept them secured  together to make the spacing of the stars perfect. I may need a second set! ;)

The denim ribbon is from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® and their collaboration with Donna Salazar. It’s just gorgeous! This U.S.A. Card came together so easy and I love all the little things that make it so special.

Don’t forget to head over to the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Blog to see a quick tutorial on how I made it and a list of supplies.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Watercolor Card

Hi again! I have a brand new post over on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog today. This one is special to me because it’s a watercolor card.

Now, that may not seem like a big deal to any of you, but I was trying to recreate an Aurora Borealis in watercolor and then use my adhesives as embellishments. I had a LOT of fun working on the Aurora. Looking at different photos and trying to get the colors blending and working just so. Then I wanted to use some of the many products from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® as embellishments, not just as adhesives. So, that was fun, too.

Using watercolors to create an actual scene was kind of new to me. I usually use them in a more abstract way, or to color in a stamp. I hope you all like what I did with this:

I’d love for you to see the close-ups and alternate views of this watercolor card over on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog. Please, go check it out and let me know what you think! Your comments always make my day. ♥

We’re expecting a MASSIVE storm here today, so I may be offline. But I appreciate each and every one of you.

Happy Veterans Day

Hello my friends! Wishing all of you a very Happy Veterans Day! I’m over on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog today sharing a card that I made for this Veterans Day.

I decided to make a card based on poppies and the poem “In Flanders Fields” by John McCrae. I love poppies so much (since they’re so prolific here in California), but just knowing that they have such a historical significance makes them so much more special. I used one of my very favorite Penny Black stamps Blooming Garden (30-155) and gave it a little more dimension.

Here’s a special peek of my Veterans Day card:

If I could give this card to each one of the people that served before me, with me, and after me…I would. God bless each and every one of you for your service and sacrifice to this great country and to all of our allies as well.

Please stop by the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog to read more about this card, how I made it, what supplies were used, etc.

Wishing ALL of my fellow veterans a very Happy Veterans Day.
